User Ratings and Reviews
4 Stars Really lovin’ my Samsung!!
As a nursing student, this netbook fit the bill! It’s light enough to fit into my purse or backpack. I get compliments on the pink color, but mostly I’m asked about its performance. While it is not a fast as my Mac, it is gets the job done. The keyboard is surprising comfortable. The only issue I don’t like is having to hit the function key for some letters on the keyboard. Anyone know how to change that function, no pun intended, PLEASE let me know.
5 Stars Samsung Netbook Shines!
I looked at a variety of netbooks and this one simply outshined them all. I have not been disappointed. It’s perfect for on the go and does everything it should. Samsung did an excellent job.
I upgraded to 2 gig of ram and the installation was simple.
Some advice from personal experience. I purchased a generic external USB Slim DVD CD R/RW Drives Burner Writer from ebay for $30 to watch DVD’s and play games. They are usually $40-$50 with shipping included (shipped from China) and downloaded the Intervideo XPACK after coupon for $12 and have had no problems. If the audio/video freezes plug in the power usb cord in addition to the usb cord for playing the device and this solves the problem. This download gives you the software and decoder allowing you to play your DVD with the Intervideo, Windows Media Player or Real Player.
ATT is the best wireless card reviewed by CNET. They did a wireless card showdown this week.
Oh, don’t forget to use both the Windows Update and Samsung Update Plus and download the updates on a regular basis. Very easy to use.
5 Stars Great Netbook
I bought my NC10 about a month ago now. I have been very pleased with it so far. I did upgrade the memory from 1GB to 2GB – it’s a very cost-effective upgrade with memory as cheap as it is now. It performs well, you can even do some light gaming on it. I mostly use it to surf the web, email, hulu.com, etc.
If your in the market for a Netbook, you can’t go wrong with the Samsung. And in reality, I’d dare say it’s one of the best ones on the market.
5 Stars Slick “mini” computer
I bought the NC10 for my wife to use at her “desk”; i.e. the kitchen table. It is small, lightweight, and easy to store when not use.
The screen is bright (with several settings) and easy to see. I like the Windows XP operating system since it is what I have on my other computers. Ergonomics are great; particularly the keyboard. I suppose the touch pad is fine but I don’t like them and bought a Digitech wireless mouse. To soon to know which my wife will prefer.
For web browsing and email this little guy works just as well as its bigger brothers (desktops and laptops). As a matter of fact it will become our travel computer. If I had found this sooner I would not have bought a laptop. Instead of the bulk/weight of a laptop the NC10 can be carried in a briefcase. It has a media player and the “My Documents” (including My Pictures) standard on XP. The screen is too small for me to use on a daily basis but fine for short time when away from home. You can also set up seperate settings for two (or more) people. When the computer starts we can choose between my wife or me.
But it does lack features found on full size computers. The biggest omission is a CD/DVD player. But you can buy a Samsung external CD/DVD drive which plugs right in with a USB port; you don’t need a seperate power source since it draws from the NC10. It also does not come with Windows Office and other software. The speakers are pitiful; not a problem for us but needs to be pointed out here.
Do buy the 2 GB memory card; it speeds up performance and is inexpensive. Even with my limited computer skills I swaped the cards in 5 minutes. Do read the “how to” in the User Guide included on the NC10 before swapping.
Price shop the heck out of the NC10; look beyond Amazon. I found the best deal after “googling” it. Paid under four bills. I noted while looking on Amazon today that price seems to very with color.
All in all, I’m very impressed with the Samsung. It is perfect for my wife as well as for travel. If I get heartburn over something, I’ll report back.
4 Stars cute! cute! and it works ok, too.
I’m far from a techie, so I really liked the cute pink color – even though my three year old son’s finger prints do tend to show.
This was my first netbook, so there were a few things that I don’t exactly care for, but I understand they’re what you get with a netbook. First, it was a little slow pulling webpages. We upgraded the memory, and that helped a lot. If you do this, be sure to check crucial’s website to make sure you’re getting the right one. Amazon recommended the wrong one to me. Second, the speakers are practically nonexistant. That’s not normally a problem for me, but be prepared. Finally, the screen is really tiny. Be sure you know exactly what 10.2 inches means. Again, all of these issues are with netbooks in general, not with my Samsung NC10. Overall, I think it’s a great (and cute!) little machine. The battery life is phenomenal.
