Designed especially for mobile devices, the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor uses a brand new design structure new hafnium-infused circuitry–which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors–to conserve energy, giving you more time away from the wall outlet–up to 3 hours with the included 3-cell battery. Other features include 512 MB of installed RAM (1.5 GB maximum), 54g Wi-Fi networking (802.11b/g), multi-format memory card reader, multiple USB ports, and built-in email, web browsing, and digital media applications.

With the Linpus Linux Lite operating system, Acer has improved the user experience by designing a friendly, easy-to-use and comprehensive interface utilizing a more natural approach to screen layout and functionality. Even novice users will be able to quickly pick up on this intuitive, virus-safe and super-responsive Linux environment. With its simple, easy-to-read interface, you’ll have no trouble finding and sharing your files. And if you run out of storage space, the Aspire One’s Smart File Manager instantly and seamlessly merges extra storage capacity from any SD card inserted into the memory card slot into the available main memory.

The Aspire One is great for getting things done, whether checking email, managing online accounts or chatting with friends. The pre-installed software is separated by functions and presented in four distinct areas on the Home screen–Connect, Works, Fun and Files. Each area has space for three applications, and you can easily personalize the applications.

The Aspire One Mail software suite lets you manage up to six email accounts with a single application interface, including office accounts. A small icon to the right of the message quickly and clearly shows the appropriate mail account. Nothing could be simpler to replace push e-mail services without using a corporate server. The Aspire One uses Messenger for Instant Messaging, an application that allows users to simultaneously access Skype, Microsoft Messenger and various other instant messaging services. The software can be used with the integrated video camera for instant video-chats and video conferences. The Mozilla Firefox web browser is optimized for the most popular web sites, and it supports full video streaming capabilities.

Whether you need to write, calculate or present, the Aspire One has everything under control. The Writer program is a fully functional word processing applicatnoi that is compatible with Microsoft Word, allowing you to open and save files directly in the .doc format. The intuitive spreadsheet application makes both newcomers and advanced users feel right at home. And you can create stunning multimedia presentations, complete with 3D clip art, special effects, animation, and special drawing tools.

Processor
The Intel Atom processor uses a brand new design structure that packs in 47 million transistors into a single chip sized at just 22mm (0.87 inches), and it uses just 2.5 watts of power–less than 1/10 of the 35 watts used by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor–for excellent battery management. This 1.6 GHz Atom N270 processor also includes a power-optimized front side bus of 533 MHz for faster data transfer on demanding mobile applications and a 512 KB L2 cache (which temporarily stores data).

Storage
This version of the Aspire One comes with 8 GB of NAND flash memory solid-state drive (SSD), which is adequate for students and those who want to use the laptop primarily as an email and web surfing device. Faster and more reliable, flash memory provides a rapid boot-up and quicker access to applications while improving battery life. Flash memory is also more reliable than hard disk memory, mainly because there are no moving parts. Since data is written to stationary flash memory instead of a spinning hard disk, you have less risk of hardware problems with the hard disk when you’re on the move. It’s an ideal feature for a travel notebook where knocks and sudden movements are par for the course.

In addition, the Aspire One reads five different types of memory cards–Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD-Picture Card–for maximum flexibility. The additional SD card slot seamlessly integrates with the internal NAND flash module as an added storage device. The ability to have both a multi-in-1 card reader and a SD card reader at the same time allows you to download photos from the multi-in-1 to share with others and store to the SD card as an internal storage device simultaneously.

Memory
The 512 MB of installed RAM (1 x 512 MB, PC2-5300) offers a 667 MHz speed. This notebook can be expanded to a maximum of 1.5 GB of RAM,

Connectivity
This Acer Aspire One notebook has an integrated 54g wireless LAN (Acer InviLink) that’s compatible with 802.11b and 802.11g networks and offers Acer’s SignalUp technology for enhanced antenna efficiency. This notbook provides the following connections:

3 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals–from digital cameras to MP3 players

Secure Digital (SD) card reader, also compatible with MultiMedia cards (MMCs)

Multi-in-one card reader supports SD, MMC, Memory Stick/Memory Stick PRO, and XD Picture Cards

1 VGA monitor port

1 headphone jack and 1 microphone jack

RJ-45 port for 10/100 Fast Ethernet connection

56K modem port (V.90)

Screen, Video and Audio
The 8.9-inch screen has a WSVGA resolution (1024 x 600) and support for up a 262K color depth. Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, which uses shared video memory with the main memory. Acer’s CrystalBrite display technology guarantees the best possible visual experience by preventing the diffusion of surrounding light and internal ray. Compared to normal TFT LCDs, Acer CrystalBrite technology is able to read color coordinates more accurately, thus minimizing distortion and creating high-fidelity colors in all environments.

This notebook includes an integrated audio card with Microsoft DirectSound compatibility, and it includes two stereo speakers.

What’s in the Box
This package contains the Acer Aspire One notebook PC (AOA110-1295; LU.S020A.012), rechargeable 3-cell lithium-ion battery, AC adapter, and operating instructions. It is backed by a limited warranty for parts and labor for one year from date of purchase.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Wonderful Thunder
I bought this netbook for my wife. It is small. It is elegant. It delivers what it promises.

Looks

The look of the netbook is really great. I have seen some other netbooks and they all looked cheap. This one has a very clean finish and it easily compares to my main $1200 laptop.

Setup:

No problem with XP home setup. We were up and running in 15 mins. Absolutely no problem connecting to the internet, etc.

Noise:

Lots of ppl have complained about the noise. I just cannot believe we got the same model. No noise what so ever. After reading the reviews, I was a bit reluctant to place the order because of the noise thing. But this one is silent. (This might be because of my wife’s prayers too!)

NO CD drive:

This is not a problem. I successfully installed softwares by sharing the CD Drive over the network from my other laptop.

SD Card reader:

This computer has 2 flash memory card readers. I think this is a waste considering the harddisk already has 160 GB! Instead of the second card reader, they could have added a HDMI output!

Speaker / Mic / Webcam:

These built-in features are fantastic for skype. We bought the laptop for this main reason. My wife used to use external mic and external webcam with her previous laptop and it was a drag. This netbook has these things built in and so no cables and no extra space needed. Just wonderful!

Summary:

Just buy it. Dont waste time reading other reviews.

1 Star I own XP Version-is it possible to give a ZERO!!!!!
I got an acer aspire one xp with 120 Gb for christmas. i thought it was great at first-but dont be fooled. yes-it is small, light, and portable. BUT wait. here is the list of problems i have had in in only a 1/2 year with it.

1.Crashed and lost all my data twice! (because of this i had to ship it back to the factory!)

2.Webcam is now broken-says that cam is not pluged in to the system!?!?!?!

3.Almost every time i use internet through Wi-Fi it refuses to connect to any secured router anyware! even unsecure

4.gives be Blue Screen Of Death (Google it!!) at least once a week!

5.Batt. lasts only 1.5 hours!

6.Never accepts ethernet cable that works with other computers FINE

7. Touchpad is horrible!

8.Gets BURNING HOT on the underside-left after about 45-55 min of constant use!

9. WAYYY to many pre-installed apps!

10. When i sent it back the hard drive had 120 GB. The Acer people who “fixed” it sent it back with only 105!

BOTTOM LINE-THIS THING (with xp-i havent tested linux on it) IS HORRIBLE!!

BUY A MAC FOR GOD SAKE!

4 Stars The mini that it thinks it a laptop.
This mini, is handy little worker. I worried about being able to read the screen, I have no proble with it. It function well. It fits iinto 4″ deep breifcase leaving enough room to carry by work’s documentation. It use electronic drive no mechanical drives maybe this will mean no hard drive failures. The cover fits tight, ligth potection.

I use electronics pug-in drives like they are CD/DVD/Floppy drives.

Its draw back:

*It comes with a 110 power supply, it needs a DC adapter for the car. About half the time I use my car is my office.

*It comes with PJ-45 no phone line, it needs the adpater to PR–45 to have a USB to phone or PJ-45 to phone line.

Software manufactures need to put programs on electron drives.

Insure you back up inportant data, not foresure data is retreavable if hard drive dies.

Speaker is weak.

I think it needs a cooler.

For around $50 you can get a USB DVD/CD writer drive.

The * items is why I gave it a 4.

Needs a wrist/waist/suiside strap incase it wants to jump/fall to floor.

Heed a stand so I can use it like presentation portfolio.

5 Stars Nice computer
My husband uses this for work when he is on the road. I wouldn’t want a laptop this small for everyday use. Note it does not have a DVD drive, so if you need to install anti-virus you will need to download it another way. We went and bought one for 25.00 here at Amazon.

4 Stars mac books are for the birds
PROS:

built-in camera

3 usb ports

comes with xp (other models have linux)

disc-free restore is pervert fast

it’s under 3 c notes

CONS:

built-in mic = defunct

relatively loud w/overworked & underachieving fan (fix: google aa1 fan)

gets hot like breakers get down, but for its size you can’t blame it

made in china. china? china. almost puts a hp dv6000 to shame. this cost less than half that even after a 150.00 rebate. this is the year of the acer as the recession continues to bone us.

Designed especially for mobile devices, the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor uses a brand new design structure new hafnium-infused circuitry, which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors to conserve energy and gives you more time away from the wall outlet–up to 2.5 hours with the included 3-cell battery. Other features include 1 GB of installed RAM (1.5 GB maximum), 54g Wi-Fi networking (802.11b/g), multi-format memory card reader, multiple USB ports, and built-in email, web browsing, and digital media applications.

It comes preinstalled with the Microsoft Windows XP Home operating system, which offers more experienced users an enhanced and innovative experience that incorporates Windows Live features like Windows Live Messenger for instant messaging and Windows Live Mail for consolidated email accounts on your desktop.

In addition, this Aspire One	comes with an 8 GB Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory card–great for storing digital media. The Asprire One has one dedicated SD memory card slot for the included SDHC card as well as a second multi-in-one card reader that’s compatible with five different types of memory cards–Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD-Picture Card–for maximum flexibility.

Memory
The 1 GB of installed RAM (512 MB onboard memory and one 512 MB DIMM, 533 MHz) can be expanded to a maximum of 1.5 GB of RAM,

DVD/CD Drive
Because of its size, the Aspire One does not come with an integrated optical drive, but optional CD/DVD read/write drives can be connected to the laptop via one of the three USB ports, enabling you to create your music mixes, burn movies to DVD, and more.

Connectivity
This Acer Aspire One notebook has an integrated 54g wireless LAN (Acer InviLink) that’s compatible with 802.11b and 802.11g networks and offers Acer’s SignalUp technology for enhanced antenna efficiency. This notebook provides the following connections:

This package contains the Acer Aspire One notebook PC (AOA110-1995; LU.S040B.235), rechargeable 3-cell lithium-ion battery, AC adapter, and operating instructions. It is backed by a limited warranty for parts and labor for one year from date of purchase.

5 Stars Great netbook for what I do
The Acer Aspire One does what I need it to do – I check my email, read the newspaper online, google while watching tv. Nothing fancy. The keyboard is a little tight but it works well with practice. I see this netbook as a replacement for my Blackberry web service – larger screen and more functionality.

4 Stars Not a bad deal for a few hundred bucks!
I Purchased this model with a 8GB solid state drive and expandable 8GB SD Card. Aside from random odd pausing that I assume is caused due to windows not working well with the solid state drive, I must admit this netbook is pretty awesome. It can it even run office and other desktop programs pretty well. I mostly use it for internet at home and work and it is perfect for that. The touchpad is a little small and uncomfortable but its nothing an external usb mouse cant fix. The screen is very crisp and clear and I often use this little thing to watch netflix movies online when i’m board at work and sometimes in my backyard at home. I love that there are no moving parts since the Hard drive is Solid State, the netbook is very quiet and never gets to hot compared to other laptops.

All in all this netbook was worth every penny of the $238 i paid for it and was even a better deal since I didnt have to pay extra taxes on it. I recommend this netbook for anyone who isnt trying to use it as their only pc.

2 Stars Solid State is really slow. Like “what were they thinking”? slow.
I bought this unit with high hopes. I’m guessing its the hard drive. This thing was slow. Slow man slow. Like, I wouldn’t sell this to my friend slow. Maybe mine was defective, but there was all this hype about solid state drives. I used to use my common sense of “you know, it takes a while for the picture to come off my flash cards and drives, why would a solid state be fast?”

It was so slow I couldn’t take it after using it like 3 times. I couldn’t do it. I resold it on ebay before even a week was done.

Its not even like “don’t be in such a rush” slow. No. Its like 286 slow. Notice they aren’t selling solid state drives anymore. Back to the ol rotating drive.

Its sad to say. I’m a fan of new technology but this one just sucks. It’s pretty and cute on the outside, but on the inside its a colossal waste of time.

It took an entire Eminem song for Internet Explorer to fully launch. Nothing but pain is what i experienced. It looked so cute too.

4 Stars perfect size
I like the notebook, and wanted something small. Didn’t realize that I needed to purchase a modem to make it work. Did that and it works very well for my purposes.

5 Stars Aspire

I’m a Mac, but I’ve been impressed with this little guy–who seems to be able to do most of the same work as my former PC’s. For the price, for the portability, and for the little-fingered people, it’s good machine.

5 Stars Great little computer!
This computer is totally worth the price. Have it attached to a larger monitor for work, but the size of the computer makes it really portable.

4 Stars Good Product, not good price
I have to admit, this little guy did everything it was supposed to… I bought the white model, 3 cell with XP and it included the 8g sdhc card already in it (I love the feature where it combines the two sources to 16g) Solid state is great, can’t wait till it’s as fast as a spinning disc (all that wasted energy).

Speaking of waste, Amazon, check the market. I picked mine up with the additional 8g of storage, and 1gig Ram installed for only 249$. Shop around, it’s worth buying but don’t pay more than double what the market is offering!

4 Stars Great Value
I have had my Acer Netbook for about 2 months, and I am very pleased with it. It’s very fast–minimal issues with buffering music, etc (does happen sometimes, but it’s not a huge problem). The touchpad has taken some getting used to, but now it’s pretty much second nature. It is a bit too easy to accidentally zoom in and out, but not a big deal to correct when that happens. The small screen size has taken a little getting used to as well. It’s very lightweight and easy to take to class. The battery power seems decent to me–it is far superior to my previous laptop (which quickly became a desktop) anyway. One drawback, that I admit I didn’t think of when I bought it, is the lack of a cd drive. I haven’t purchased an external one yet, but I plan to. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase. The price is unbeatable, and I definitely recommend it for someone like me, a student on a budget.

5 Stars Mac books are for the birds
This notebook is great. No wonder it has such a high rating with so many purchases. For basic pc functions, you can’t go wrong with this.

PROS:

built-in camera

3 usb ports

3-cell batt is decent

oh yeah.. it’s under 300!

CONS:

built-in mic = defunct (get a cheap logitech for $8 for webcamming)

annoying buzz-sound that only goes away when sleeping or off

gets hot fast, but for its size, you can’t blame it

I always trust the newest ratings of an Amazon product before buying. It’s been only 3 days but I have had no problems -knock on wood- . Label’s mfg date says 10/08. Pre-installed XP works flawlessly. This Acer notebook almost puts my HP Pavilion to shame. But that’s because it was on basic vista. Go Acer. Boo recession. Happy shopping.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Unusable
I heard good things about this item, but unfortunately the one i received did not have the operating system installed. I had to return it for a full refund.

5 Stars FANTASTIC….This one word describes this Acer Inspire!!!!!
What I initially liked about this computer was the price…and the computing power for that price!! But, after I received it (GREAT SERVICE – 2 days after order!!) this little honey sold me further on itself! It is a wonderful thing to have for travel or just sitting in your easy chair.

It worked right out of the box and connected instantaneously to my home wireless network. After getting used to the keys and such, I was happily checking e-mails and surfing the web. I bought the white one to minimize on the fingerprint issue noted by some other reviewers. Plus, I bought the recommended carrying case which fits it well. Rather than repeat all the “technical babble” and praise from others, let me just say this GEM is perfect for my needs and I recommend it wholeheartedly. IF you are looking for the “little computer that can”…buy this one! You won’t regret it!!!!!!

Final comment, the 3 cell battery is fine and I am glad that I did not purchase the unit with the 6 cell. It is slim, sleek and has sufficient time online for me. Why add extra bulk for another hour or two??

5 Stars Nice Netbook
I spend virtually all my time on the road, bought this to cut down on weight/bulk and couldn’t be happier. The size is truly tiny but I’ve been really impressed with the quality, performance and expansion capabilities.

The screen is lovely, plenty bright and sharp and I’m seeing right around 2.5 hours of battery life with the standard 3-cell battery.

It’s been mentioned before, but the keyboard is a bit cramped (although I’m writing this review on my Aspire One with no real problems) and I find the “enter” and “backspace” keys a bit difficult to hit consistently. That’s an acceptable sacrifice given the overall small size and lack of weight.

I can’t comment on how XP performs or what software comes pre-installed. I installed Windows 7 as soon as I took it out of the box with no problems. Windows 7, by the way, runs great on this machine although I did have to download and install a touchpad driver from Acer to get the tap/double-tap working.

I really like the multimedia card slot and the additional SD slot and three USB ports. The shiny outer case is beautiful but does collect fingerprints. The built-in webcam works great.

This is a great little laptop for frequent travelers to keep up on e-mail, surf the web, watch videos through Hulu, etc… I wouldn’t want to write a novel on it but after a few weeks of use I’m really happy and consider it a bargain at $259.

5 Stars Get one and give one to a friend – or someone you would like to be
The Acer Aspire one 3-cell 160 gigabyte hard drive mini notebook turned out to be such a delight to use, that I got another one and sent it to a friend that I have not seen in decades. The seashell white has the added advantage of showing no fingerprints. I could not be happier with it. They make great presents.

5 Stars Performs as advertised, and then some
I bought this item with some trepidation, as I was unsure it would do what I wanted it to. I was looking for a basic device to allow me to work on my writing skills while in a confined area, and preferably without the full cost of a laptop. In the end, I am exceedingly happy with this item.

The keyboard IS small, as stated in an earlier review. This would make touch-typing an issue. I have big hands, but I use the “nearest available digit” style of typing, and the shallow key strokes needed on this keyboard makes it work quite well for me and my method (I’m actually more accurate on this then on my Microsoft Digital Keyboard 3000).

As others have stated, the shovel-ware is minimal on the system, and is easily dealt with. The unit boots quickly (TY, Windows XP) and runs smoothly (might be a little slow if you’re used to a modern desktop, but not enough to cause aggravation.)

If you are looking for a basic device with which to write, surf the web, or perform other basic actions, this is the unit for you.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Unusable
I heard good things about this item, but unfortunately the one i received did not have the operating system installed. I had to return it for a full refund.

Designed especially for mobile devices, the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor uses a brand new design structure new hafnium-infused circuitry–which reduces electrical current leakage in transistors–to conserve energy, giving you more time away from the wall outlet–up to 5.5 hours with the included 6-cell battery. Other features include 1 GB of installed RAM (1.5 GB maximum), 54g Wi-Fi networking (802.11b/g), multi-format memory card reader, multiple USB ports, and built-in email, web browsing, and digital media applications.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Way too many problems
I’ve had way too many problems with this product right out the box. The screen did not work properly, then the SD Card slot, the the bluetooth. I’ve gone back to my old computer.

5 Stars Excellent Purchase
Ok so it’s been a week since I’ve had the Acer Aspire 150. Must say, I’m quite impressed. Certainly it’s not infallable, but it has easily found its place. Now I should start by stating the obvious: this is a netbook, not to be confused with a laptop, or in other words it is not a desktop replacement by any means. For those that are looking to use a laptop as their main computer, do not make it a netbook. If you are planning on using this for nothing more than surfing the internet, and other minor tasks such as word processing or playing music, then look no further. The Acer Aspire combines functionality with an affordable price, perfect for the budget minded. Now on to the specs…

Overall, the netbook package is nice, fairly slim (although I’ve seen slimmer). This is a point that will be up to personal preference, as many will complaign about the keys being too close together, or the touchpad being too small; however, my personal observation is that the keys are not significantly smaller, and mine came with a mini-mouse, easily fixing the touchpad problem. The speed is quite average amongst most netbooks with comparable specs. The wireless works quite well; at first I was dropping connection every minute or so, but after visiting the Acer website and updating the driver, it worked fine. The built-in webcam is a nice touch, works great with skype, and the quality isn’t too shabby (obviously not HD quality or anything of the like, but overall quite smooth, better than most I’ve used). The built-in speakers are ok for the size, but headphones would be much better. Battery life is quite good, mine averages 4 hours with use. Start up is quite fast; takes me about 20 seconds to load (without an anti-virus currently installed; I’m sure that will easily slow down performance). Much software had to be removed out the of box (McAfee, 3rd party software, etc), but it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be, about 20 minutes of uninstalls, no messing with the registry or the like. XP runs smooth, have yet to try Windows 7, although I’m told it runs fairly well. Office 2007 runs smooth, Word, Excel, OneNote, and all.

It includes 3 USB ports, which fit items fairly snug, but no problems (would have been nice to have a firewire port). The included VGA out is almost vital. The screen has good quality, a little small for thos who are used to larger fonts, but for me works nice.

So, all in all, for the price, this item is well worth it. The hardware seems sturdy overall, the size and weight make this ultra-portable, and once again the price just makes it a great purchase.

1 Star Disgusted over this purchase
I have never experienced such a negitive customer experience as I have with this product.

I am currently serving my country in Afghanistan. I ordered this computer and when it showed up it was defective. I worked with the on-line support folks and even spent my own money calling back to the customer support line. Never once was I told that the item could be replaced with a new one. I spent an entire week trying to fix the computer by taking directions from the Acer support techs. At first, they said I had to update “Flash” a new bios to the computer. This was a new computer and it already needs the bios replaced? I updated the Bios and this did not fix the machine. Then they wanted to send me a CD to reload the software. Well, they obviously did not do their homework because the computer does not come with a CD ROM drive.

So here I am in the middle of Afghanistan with a computer that keeps shutting down on it’s own….right after I start it.

3 Stars Great except for the
The Acer One currently on sale is great- small footprint, does everything I need. I bought it about a month ago for use at work, where the wireless networks are blocked, so I use a USB wireless modem device. No problem.

But it absolutely will not connect to the internet reliably using WiFi. I spent about 6 hours troubleshooting, and no way will it connect to my home network that 4 other machines share happily.

So, if you bought this needing Wifi connection, look for something else. The problems have not been fixed by ACER, because this machine has the latest BIOS and drivers.

Shame, as it’s perfect in every other respect, and I’m happy with mine. It’s a mystery to me why the company doesn’t correct it.

5 Stars I love it.
I think my Acer is great. I take it everywhere with me. There is a small whine when it first starts up sometimes, but it quickly stops. I can work around this for the convenience and the cost.

4 Stars Really lovin’ my Samsung!!
As a nursing student, this netbook fit the bill! It’s light enough to fit into my purse or backpack. I get compliments on the pink color, but mostly I’m asked about its performance. While it is not a fast as my Mac, it is gets the job done. The keyboard is surprising comfortable. The only issue I don’t like is having to hit the function key for some letters on the keyboard. Anyone know how to change that function, no pun intended, PLEASE let me know.

5 Stars Samsung Netbook Shines!
I looked at a variety of netbooks and this one simply outshined them all. I have not been disappointed. It’s perfect for on the go and does everything it should. Samsung did an excellent job.

I upgraded to 2 gig of ram and the installation was simple.

Some advice from personal experience. I purchased a generic external USB Slim DVD CD R/RW Drives Burner Writer from ebay for $30 to watch DVD’s and play games. They are usually $40-$50 with shipping included (shipped from China) and downloaded the Intervideo XPACK after coupon for $12 and have had no problems. If the audio/video freezes plug in the power usb cord in addition to the usb cord for playing the device and this solves the problem. This download gives you the software and decoder allowing you to play your DVD with the Intervideo, Windows Media Player or Real Player.

ATT is the best wireless card reviewed by CNET. They did a wireless card showdown this week.

Oh, don’t forget to use both the Windows Update and Samsung Update Plus and download the updates on a regular basis. Very easy to use.

5 Stars Great Netbook
I bought my NC10 about a month ago now. I have been very pleased with it so far. I did upgrade the memory from 1GB to 2GB – it’s a very cost-effective upgrade with memory as cheap as it is now. It performs well, you can even do some light gaming on it. I mostly use it to surf the web, email, hulu.com, etc.

If your in the market for a Netbook, you can’t go wrong with the Samsung. And in reality, I’d dare say it’s one of the best ones on the market.

5 Stars Slick “mini” computer
I bought the NC10 for my wife to use at her “desk”; i.e. the kitchen table. It is small, lightweight, and easy to store when not use.

The screen is bright (with several settings) and easy to see. I like the Windows XP operating system since it is what I have on my other computers. Ergonomics are great; particularly the keyboard. I suppose the touch pad is fine but I don’t like them and bought a Digitech wireless mouse. To soon to know which my wife will prefer.

For web browsing and email this little guy works just as well as its bigger brothers (desktops and laptops). As a matter of fact it will become our travel computer. If I had found this sooner I would not have bought a laptop. Instead of the bulk/weight of a laptop the NC10 can be carried in a briefcase. It has a media player and the “My Documents” (including My Pictures) standard on XP. The screen is too small for me to use on a daily basis but fine for short time when away from home. You can also set up seperate settings for two (or more) people. When the computer starts we can choose between my wife or me.

But it does lack features found on full size computers. The biggest omission is a CD/DVD player. But you can buy a Samsung external CD/DVD drive which plugs right in with a USB port; you don’t need a seperate power source since it draws from the NC10. It also does not come with Windows Office and other software. The speakers are pitiful; not a problem for us but needs to be pointed out here.

Do buy the 2 GB memory card; it speeds up performance and is inexpensive. Even with my limited computer skills I swaped the cards in 5 minutes. Do read the “how to” in the User Guide included on the NC10 before swapping.

Price shop the heck out of the NC10; look beyond Amazon. I found the best deal after “googling” it. Paid under four bills. I noted while looking on Amazon today that price seems to very with color.

All in all, I’m very impressed with the Samsung. It is perfect for my wife as well as for travel. If I get heartburn over something, I’ll report back.

4 Stars cute! cute! and it works ok, too.
I’m far from a techie, so I really liked the cute pink color – even though my three year old son’s finger prints do tend to show.

This was my first netbook, so there were a few things that I don’t exactly care for, but I understand they’re what you get with a netbook. First, it was a little slow pulling webpages. We upgraded the memory, and that helped a lot. If you do this, be sure to check crucial’s website to make sure you’re getting the right one. Amazon recommended the wrong one to me. Second, the speakers are practically nonexistant. That’s not normally a problem for me, but be prepared. Finally, the screen is really tiny. Be sure you know exactly what 10.2 inches means. Again, all of these issues are with netbooks in general, not with my Samsung NC10. Overall, I think it’s a great (and cute!) little machine. The battery life is phenomenal.

It comes preinstalled with the Microsoft Windows XP Home operating system, which offers more experienced users an enhanced and innovative experience that incorporates Windows Live features like Windows Live Messenger for instant messaging and Windows Live Mail for consolidated email accounts on your desktop.

Storage
This version of the Aspire One comes with a 160 GB hard disk drive (5400 RPM), which offers enough to room to hold a digital audio library of over 26,000 songs and still have room left over for movies, games, and a large collection of software. This Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data–akin to Firewire and USB 2.0.

This package contains the Acer Aspire One notebook PC (AOA150-1126; LU.S040B.162), rechargeable 6-cell lithium-ion battery, AC adapter, and operating instructions. It is backed by a limited warranty for parts and labor for one year from date of purchase.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Way too many problems
I’ve had way too many problems with this product right out the box. The screen did not work properly, then the SD Card slot, the the bluetooth. I’ve gone back to my old computer.
